Toyota is making 500 people redundant at its Formula One factory in Germany after its decision to quit the sport.
The figure amounts to about 80 per cent of its F1 workforce. About 150 employees will be moved to alternative projects, focusing on either road cars or other motorsport activities with which Toyota is involved.
According German news agency DPA, the affected workers will receive partial salaries for up to 12 months, in addition to getting redundancy payments and re-training benefits.
