The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has released the UK National Anti-Doping Policy, which comes into force next Monday (Dec 14).

The policy sets out the anti-doping framework in the UK and outlines the objectives and requirements of the Government and the devolved administrations regarding anti-doping in sport.

It also identifies the roles played by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD), the National Anti-Doping Panel, the home country sports councils and national governing bodies in delivering these objectives.

Under the new rules, UKAD will conduct all results management, which will include the responsibility to decide if there is a case to answer by an athlete or athlete support personnel, although agreement may be made with a national governing body which would allow them to present that case to the applicable disciplinary panel. UKAD will also have arrangements in place with public agencies to facilitate the sharing of anti-doping intelligence.

To coincide with the launch of the new policy, UKAD has released version 2.0 of the UK Anti-Doping Rules to ensure consistency and compliance with the requirements.
