Donington Park’s administrators are still hoping to sell the lease to the circuit despite its Formula 1 dreams ending with the news that Silverstone has signed a 17-year deal to stage the British Grand Prix.
Donington had been granted the same contract but failed to raise the funds to redevelop the venue and leaseholders Donington Ventures Leisure Limited was put in administration last month.
Administrator Nigel Price said: “There is a break clause on either side of 10 years [in the Silverstone deal], so that closes the door on Formula 1 at Donington in that time scale,” he told the Derby Telegraph.
“However, we are still in negotiations with three parties with a view to Donington continuing to operate as a national and club circuit.
“We are hopeful a deal can be done by the end of this week.”
