All 13 Formula 1 teams will unveil their cars for the 2010 season at a joint launch as part of the sport’s ongoing effort to cut costs.
The event is likely to take place before the first pre-season test in Valencia at the end of January.
Mercedes GP chief executive Nick Fry said: “We’ve agreed among the teams to do a joint launch. It’s a demonstration of how we’re working together.
“I wouldn’t wish to spill the beans on exactly what we are going to do but I think it is going to be very innovative.
“We’re not all just going off and doing our own individual launches. We can do something which is a lot more customer friendly.”
However, a joint launch could mean that not all the teams will be able to unveil their completed cars.
New team Lotus F1’s cars will not be ready until February and team principal Tony Fernandes said: “I won’t have a car at that time [ahead of the test at the end of January].”
“I could come with a Matchbox car,” he joked.
Meanwhile, BBC Sport has reported that the Renault team will continue to race in F1 next season after a deal was struck to secure its future.
It is thought the team will continue under new owners with Renault keeping a minority 25 per cent shareholding. An official announcement is likely next week.
