The International Olympic Committee’s executive board has invited the three cities bidding to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2014 to present their bids to the full IOC membership.
The vote to select the host city will take place on February 10, 2010, with Poznan (Poland), Guadalajara (Mexico) and Nanjing (China) all in the running.
Poznan’s mayor Ryszard Grobelny said: “This is a great day for Poznan. We are naturally thrilled that the IOC executive board has decided we should be given the opportunity to present our bid to all the IOC members in February. We think that the Youth Olympic Games is all about developing talent – something that Poland has always been committed to throughout its history.
“The Youth Olympic Games is our chance to extend this to the whole Olympic movement and to the youth of the world. We look forward to sharing our vision for the Games with the full IOC membership in Vancouver.”
