Adidas signs kit deal with Team Sky
 05/01/2010

Adidas has been confirmed as the official apparel and accessories partner to Team Sky.

The sportswear manufacturer has been working with the much-hyped new British professional cycling team for several months, but details of the agreement were announced yesterday (Jan 4) at Team Sky’s official launch.

Adidas will provide almost 100 different pieces of apparel and accessories, and more than 14,000 units of kit to the team each year.

Team principal Dave Brailsford said: “The idea of marginal gains is also about the attention to detail that our technical partners will pay, such as the valuable contribution Adidas has made. Adding up all of these gains will bring measurable improvements and better performances.”

Adidas has worked with British Cycling for several years and said it was a natural progression to sign up with Team Sky and Brailsford, who remains British Cycling’s performance director.

Head of sports marketing for Adidas UK & Ireland Robin Money added: “The Adidas partnership with Sky Pro Cycling is one we are proud to be taking on. Adidas has worked successfully with British Cycling and Dave Brailsford for a number of years, supplying riders with the very best in technical apparel.

“Every team needs commitment and Sky Pro Cycling aims to be the very best – and incredible attention to detail will be needed. Adidas will continue developing product advancements to help Team Sky achieve its goals both on and off the bike.”

As well as apparel and accessories for Team Sky itself, Adidas has designed a range of on- and off-bike products that will be available in shops from March.

Other Team Sky partners include Marks & Spencer, Oakley and Jaguar.
