Golf Australia has appointed Brad James as its high performance director.
James, who has resigned as director of golf at the University of Minnesota, will also work with the Australian Institute of Sport as part of his new role.
He will oversee the men’s and women’s national teams, and also be responsible for developing Australia’s young talent.
James guided the Minnesota men’s team to the 2002 NCAA Division 1 championship and has four US college final appearances on his CV.
He said: “I am so thankful for everything the University of Minnesota has done for me. I’ve been here 17 years and in that time I not only received my degree but developed as a person and a coach. I owe this university everything and I could not be more grateful.”
James will finish the school year in the US before departing for Melbourne in the summer.
