Major League Baseball (MLB) and Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) are close to signing a deal that will see the US and Japanese baseball champions meet in a Global World Series.
Reports in Japan claim NPB commissioner Ryozo Kato has reached an agreement with MLB counterpart Bud Selig that the winners of the two countries’ professional leagues should play each other.
Kato, a former Japanese ambassador to the US, is believed to have held a meeting with Selig in Milwaukee, where Selig reportedly said that he wanted to hold such a game before his term is due to end in 2012.
