The Premier League has ruled that Portsmouth’s £7m share of the latest round of television money will be given to other teams to settle debts owed by the South Coast club.
Portsmouth owes a total of about £10m in unpaid transfer fees to several clubs both in England and abroad, and, following a two-day meeting, the Premier League has confirmed that the TV cash will be paid to “undisputed football creditors that were overdue at the time of meeting”.
The Premier League added that it would continue to work with Portsmouth, which is £60m in debt overall, “to ensure that arrangements are in place to settle all club liabilities as and when they become due”.
