International footballers’ union FIFPro is set to seek assurances over player safety from organisers of this summer’s World Cup in South Africa.
Yahoo! Sports reports that the union has been contacted by many of its national representatives in the wake of the attack on the Togo team bus at the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
FIFPro president Gerardo Movilla is expected to contact South Africa 2010 chief Danny Jordaan this week to ask what anti-terrorism measures will be in place at the tournament.
Jordaan has angrily dismissed claims that the Togo attack raises questions about the security situation in Africa.
But just this week, it emerged that police are hunting two men who threatened on a television programme to rob and kill fans at the tournament.
