Adidas, Nike and Puma are the best-known brands in Europe’s five biggest football markets, according to a Sport+Markt survey.
The survey shows that kit suppliers and shirt sponsors dominate football communications in Germany, the UK, France, Spain and Italy.
But Audi, which finished eighth in the European Football Brands Top 20 list, was the biggest surprise to Sport+Markt executive director Hartmut Zastrow.
“Audi pursues a decentralised football strategy, with partnerships with many European clubs, and is even outstripping rival automotive supplier, Ford, as a sponsor,” he said.
The report lists the 20 companies named by fans without prompting as
football sponsors. Companies mentioned in only one country were not included in the list.
