Former Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell has heaped more misery on the struggling club by suing it for unpaid fees and bonuses.
The 35-year-old, who has just moved back to Arsenal after the briefest of stints at Notts County, claims he is owed £1.7m in image rights and bonus payments following three seasons as a player at Fratton Park.
A spokesman for the South Coast club said: "The matter is being dealt with by our lawyers.”
Portsmouth is already facing a winding-up petition from HM Revenue & Customs after its appeal was dismissed by a High Court judge this week.
