Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan has insisted that he has no plans to make a bid for Real Madrid.
It was reported last month that Sheikh Mansour was lining up a 1 billion Euro takeover of the Spanish giants.
But his representatives contacted Spanish newspaper AS this week to deny the speculation.
The City owner said in a statement: “[Sheikh Mansour] has not authorised any offer to buy Real Madrid football club and has no intention of making this acquisition.”
Meanwhile, chief executive Garry Cook says City will become the “biggest and best club in the world”.
Speaking in New York after City’s Carling Cup win over neighbours Manchester United earlier this week, Cook said: “This football club is, without doubt, going to be the biggest and best football club in the world.
"I will make no excuses for saying it, as I truly believe it – with the resources and capabilities we have."
