Guadalajara pulls out of Youth Games bid 26/01/2010 |

Guadalajara has withdrawn its bid to host the second Youth Olympic Games in 2014 to concentrate on staging next year’s Pan American Games.
The decision leaves only Nanjing in China and Poznan in Poland to compete for the Youth Games. The International Olympic Committee will announce the host city on February 10.
In an IOC report released earlier this month, Nanjing was given top marks but Guadalajara was said to have some significant risks – mainly surrounding the troubled efforts to organise the Pan American Games and the financial difficulties.
Bid organisers said in a statement: "Notwithstanding the efforts made, due to time constraints, by serious financial constraints and the urgency of completing and consolidating the actions related to the Pan American Games, it was concluded that under such circumstances it is impossible to assume, simultaneously, the organisation of two events of such importance and complexity.
“Therefore, unanimously, the Mexican Olympic Committee, in conjunction with state and municipal governments, has decided to decline the request to host the Youth Olympic Games II Summer 2014."
