Munich's bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympic Games is supported by 88 per cent of German people, according to a survey.
The research, conducted by Ipsos, revealed that almost 88 per cent of people surveyed supported the involvement of companies in sponsoring the bid, despite the global financial downturn.
Chief executive of the Munich 2018 bid committee Willy Bogner said: "This is a very pleasing survey for Munich 2018 at such an early stage of our campaign.
“However, there is a long way to go and we will work hard to continue explaining the major benefits of the Games to the people of Munich and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, and all of Germany so that we can continue to enjoy this excellent support.”
