The opening of the stadium that will host this year’s World Cup Final in South Africa has been delayed.
Soccer City, in the Soweto area of Johannesburg, was due to host the derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs on February 20.
But Pirates communications manager Mickey Modisane told KickOff.com: “We have been informed that the stadium is not ready yet and so we are looking at alternative venues at the moment.”
The 90,000-seat arena, which will also stage the first game of the tournament this summer, is one of two World Cup stadiums still not completed.
