Setanta is transferring the rights to broadcast soccer and rugby matches in the US to News Corp’s Fox Soccer Channel.
Setanta, whose UK arm collapsed last year, will cease broadcasting its US channel on Feb 28, and Fox will take over the rights on March 1, the Irish company said in a statement.
Leonard Ryan, co-founder of Setanta, said: “We concluded that the best course of action for the group is to exit the US market and to concentrate on other markets where we can be a more substantial player in sports television. This transaction enables us to achieve that and explore new opportunities.”
