Tottenham’s plans for a new stadium have suffered a blow after the Government's architectural watchdog criticised aspects of the proposal.
The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), whose report will be considered by Haringey Council before a decision is made on Spurs' planning application, praised the design of the stadium itself, but raised concerns about the proposed supermarket and housing.
CABE believes the three parts of the scheme feel too “separate” and says for this reason it cannot support the planning application as a whole.
''We are concerned that an overall masterplan for the site is not evident: the three components – the stadium, supermarket, and housing – feel like very separate projects without convincing spatial relationships between them,” read CABE's design review.
