Russia’s World Cup bid team has made its second senior appointment in the last week.
Viacheslav Koloskov, who served on the Fifa executive committee for 30 years in two separate spells, has joined the bid team as adviser for international relations. Former Fifa head of communications Markus Siegler was hired as special adviser earlier this week.
Both men have travelled to Angola as part of a delegation which will attend the Confederation of African Football Congress on Friday (Jan 29) and Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations final.
“The Africa Cup of Nations is CAF’s flagship competition and their congress the most important institutional event of the confederation,” said Russia bid chief executive Alexey Sorokin in a statement.
“For us, it is a privilege and honour to observe these events as well as to take the opportunity to further familiarise the African football family, and in particular their members in the Fifa executive committee, with our bid.”
