Fifa has announced that two-thirds of the tickets for this summer’s World Cup have been sold with the tournament now just over four months away.
It said that a total of 1.2 million ticket applications had been received for the third round of sales which will be settled by lottery next month.
World football’s governing body revealed that the vast majority (79 per cent) of those applications had come from South Africa, followed by the USA and the UK.
