The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has called match-fixing a “disease that needs to be cured”.
The organisation says it is keeping a close eye on the situation in China, where more than 20 officials, players and managers have been arrested in the last two months on suspicion of corruption.
"AFC has always taken a very strong stance against match-fixing," the governing body said in a statement. "This is a disease that needs to be cured with strict sanctions along with educational programmes.
"The situation in China right now is an ongoing police investigation. It would be inappropriate to jump to conclusions or to speculate on the details or the outcome before the investigation is complete.
"AFC will continue to monitor the situation in China and await the results of the investigation."
