Indian Premier League (IPL) team the Rajasthan Royals is looking to forge partnerships with teams from four other countries to help boost its brand around the world.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Rajasthan wants to sign agreements with teams in Australia, England, South Africa and the West Indies that would include hosting join tournaments.
Rajasthan chief executive Sean Morris hopes to a announce the tie-ups next week and said: "The opportunity to create a global brand is a unique one across all sports and will enable us to take advantage of the changing landscape in cricket, not least in the areas of marketing and talent development."
The other four teams in the alliance will apparently use the ‘Royals’ name in their respective Twenty20 competitions and wear a similar kit to the IPL side. The teams will also share revenues from any global sponsor of the Royals brand.
With Twenty20 tournaments in the five countries spread out across the year, the global brand will rarely be out of the headlines.
