Bob Gainey has resigned as general manager of the National Hockey League’s Montreal Canadiens. He will be replaced by assistant general manager Pierre Gauthier.
Gauthier previously served as general manager of the Ottawa Senators and the Anaheim Ducks.
Gainey, who spent his entire NHL playing career with the Canadiens, has been the team’s general manager since 2003. He will stay on as a special advisor to Gauthier.
