The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has agreed a multi-million dollar sponsorship deal with BP.
The petroleum giant, which is also backing the London 2012 Olympics, will become a major USOC partner for the next four years in a deal estimated to be worth $15m.
BP has put the environment at the heart of its strategy recently – an issue that has long been important to the Olympic Movement.
The agreement is something of a coup for USOC in difficult economic conditions, particularly as it comes on the back of another big deal signed recently with Procter & Gamble.
