Coca-Cola committed to Olympics
 16/02/2010

Coca-Cola is likely to extend its sponsorship of the Olympic Games beyond 2020, the company’s chief executive has revealed.

A number of sponsors, such as Johnson & Johnson and Kodak, ended their Olympic deals after the 2008 Beijing Games, but Coca-Cola – which has been associated with the event since 1928 – is showing no signs of following them out the door.

“I wouldn’t see any reason why it shouldn’t continue,” Kent said in Vancouver, where he is attending the Winter Olympics.

“You can never say never in business and in life. We admire the people in charge of running the Olympics – Jacques Rogge and his team at the IOC [International Olympic Committee]. We believe and they believe in a mutually-beneficial association.”

Coca-Cola’s current sponsorship agreement with the IOC began in 2005 and runs until 2020.
