The Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games organising committee has appointed Ian Troop as chief executive.
Troop will step down as an adviser with OMERS Private Equity to take on the position and has more than 28 years experience in the consumer packaged goods industry, including with Procter & Gamble. He has held senior brand marketing roles in Canada, Poland, the United States and Mexico.
Chairman of Toronto 2015’s board of directors Roger Garland said: "Ian brings an exceptional scope of skills and work experience to this highly complex project.
“He is a self-starter who has built organisations from the ground up and has proven he can motivate and lead diverse groups in challenging environments.
“He is visionary and understands how the Games can inspire our athletes and people in our communities".
Troop will oversee the Games' $1.4bn budget and added: "I'm proud to be part of an extraordinary undertaking that will make a profound and lasting difference.
“This will be an incredible international event with an unprecedented legacy for sport and for the entire community in the Greater Golden Horseshoe area.”
