Real Madrid was the top-earning football club in Europe last season, edging out rivals Barcelona, according to a new report.
Spanish company Prime Time Sport says that Real’s turnover was 407m Euros for 2008/09, up from 366m Euros the previous season.
Champions League winners Barcelona brought in 385m Euros in 2008/09, ahead of Arsenal (357m Euros) and Manchester United (317m Euros).
The study also showed that spending by Europe’s leading clubs in the January transfer window fell 66 per cent to 112m Euros this year compared with 2009.
