The Abu Dhabi Government has bought the Yas Marina motorsport circuit, which hosted its first Formula 1 race last year.
The track’s developer Aldar announced a 79 per cent drop in earnings for 2009 earlier this month and the sale of the circuit and other assets is expected to allow the company to meet its financial commitments, according to Gulf News.
Aldar’s chief financial officer Shafqat Malik told the newspaper: "This [the assets sale] includes roads, utilities on the Yas Island, Yas Marina Circuit which is home to the Formula 1 race track, Yas Marina and the Yas Yacht Club.”
