Korea's strong performance at the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games could boost PyeongChang's chances of hosting the 2018 event, bid officials believe.
Korea finished fifth in medal table behind Canada, Germany, the US and Norway after collecting six gold, six silver and two bronze medals.
PyeongChang's opponents for the 2018 Games bid are Munich, Germany, and Annecy, France.
Kim Jin-sun, co-chairman of the bid committee, said: "It is an important barometer in the selection of the host for the Games. It played a key role in Sochi winning the 2014 bid that Russia is a winter sports powerhouse, but had not hosted the Olympics.”
