Former Mars, BT and Abbey marketer Angus Porter is joining the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA) as chief executive.

He takes over from Vikram Solanki, who has held the position on a temporary basis since Sean Morris stepped down in October last year.

"This is a dream role," said Porter. "The opportunity to apply my business experience to a sport I love is a chance not to be missed. I look forward to the many challenges ahead and to building strong relationships in the game."

Porter left Thomas Cook, where he was group strategy director, last year and the PCA’s non-executive group chairman Anthony Wreford added: "Angus brings proven business skills to the PCA which are critical given the our commercial activities.”
