Uefa has announced that Wolfgang Niersbach will not be involved in the evaluation process for the host country of the 2016 European Championships.
German Niersbach, a member of Uefa’s National Team Competitions Committee, was due to help produce a report on the three bidding countries – France, Italy and Turkey.
A Uefa statement confirmed that Niersbach had decided not to take part in the preparation of the report, which will make recommendations to the executive committee.
Uefa general secretary Gianni Infantino said: "Mr Niersbach's contribution to the National Team Competitions Committee has always been extremely valuable and professional, and we have absolutely no doubt that it will remain so.
"We have reached this decision together. The most important matter is that the neutrality of the bid compliance evaluation carried out by the committee remains above any possible doubts.”
