Nathan Robertson has criticised British badminton officials over their failure to improve the sport's profile on the back of recent medal success.
More Than The Games reports that Robertson, who won silver with Gail Emms at the Athens Olympics in 2004, believes more needs to be done by the sport's governing bodies to stop the dominance of Asian players, who have won 33 of the 37 Olympic singles medals since the sport was added to the programme in 1992.
"Unfortunately we have failed to take opportunities after Olympic and world success," he said.
"I think the window of opportunity was there to try to set something up and see more top-class badminton around the country.
"If we could get the best players playing more in England then we might inspire more youngsters to take up the sport.
"Something like a national club championships for the kids to follow would be great and it could get them involved more.”
