Indianapolis Motor Speedway has played down reports that it is close to agreeing a deal that would see the US Grand Prix return to the famous venue.
A spokesman admitted that the track would “love” to host the race again – but that talks were not currently taking place.
F1 commercial rights boss Bernie Ecclestone hinted at the opening race of the F1 season in Bahrain that a return to Indianapolis was possible, but a spokesman for the venue told the Indy Star: "In terms of negotiations, nothing is happening at this time.
"We would love to have Formula 1 in Indianapolis. We feel this is the best venue for Formula 1 in the United States."
The last F1 grand prix to be held in Indianapolis was in 2007.
