Work on Kiev’s Olympic Stadium – the venue for the final of Euro 2012 – is five months behind schedule.
Ukrainian sports minister Ravil Safiullin said the situation was “depressing”, but promised to do “everything possible” to make up time.
State-owned Interfax news agency quoted Safiullin as saying: “Speaking about Olimpiysky National Sports Complex [Olympic Stadium], all the delegates who visited it with vice prime minister Borys Kolesnikov regard the situation as depressing.
“[The project is] more than five months behind the schedule approved by the previous cabinet. There are problems."
Safiullin added that he intended to visit the stadium, which is being upgraded, this week.
"I am not a builder, I cannot say for sure, but we have to do everything possible to catch up with the delay, so that Euro 2012 will take place," he said.
