Richard Adam, the joint managing director of the Munich 2018 Winter Olympics bid, is stepping down after just 16 months.
No reason was given for his departure, although some reports have suggested that he did not get on with bid chief executive Willy Bogner and fellow managing director Bernhard Schwank.
Adam, who was responsible for marketing, communications and personnel, told German press agency dpa: “It was better for me to leave the management team. I'm sorry things turned out this way, because I brought a great deal of idealism into the job."
Munich is competing with Pyeongchang in South Korea and French town Annecy to stage the 2018 Winter Games. The International Olympic Committee will make a decision next year.
