Great Britain and Ireland Racing, the TV broadcast and media service for global betting shop operators, has appointed Richard Brooke as its chairman.
Brooke’s non-executive role will see him chair a board consisting of Racecourse Media Group and At The Races chief executives Richard FitzGerald and Matthew Imi, and directors Simon Bazalgette (chief executive of Jockey Club Racecourses) and Mark Elliott (chief executive of Arena Leisure).
GBI Racing is the new joint-venture between Racecourse Media Group and At The Races, which provides live coverage from all 60 UK racecourses and all 26 Irish tracks.
Brooke is managing director of SJIP Advisors, where he advises media companies on strategic, operating and corporate matters.
He has been particularly involved in the development of pay television in the UK.
Brooke said: “The establishment of GBI Racing is an extremely positive move for the racing industry, its rights holders and our customers. I am pleased to be taking up the position of chairman of the new company and look forward to working with all the parties involved to help to make this an effective and successful operation.”
Elliott added: “Richard has had a long and successful career in the sector having held a number of corporate and advisory positions, and brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the role.”
