South African beer will be sold in Fifa’s official fan parks at the World Cup this summer despite Anheuser-Busch Inbev’s sponsorship deal with world football’s governing body.
While Budweiser will have exclusive rights in the stadiums, South African Breweries has announced that it will provide “a limited run of lager and a light lager” at the fan parks.
The company also promised to brew extra beer in the run-up to the event to supply the expected eight million to 10 million beers that will be consumed at fan parks.
