Fábio Koff has been re-elected president of Clube dos 13, the organisation that represents Brazil’s biggest clubs, for another three years.
Koff beat former Flamengo president Kléber Leite by 12 votes to eight in an election held in Sao Paulo. The ex-Gremio president will now serve a sixth term having been in charge of Clube dos 13 since 1996.
Koff said: “It was important to have two candidates running because that stimulates debate.
“I have said that since I became president for the first time. Discussion makes Clube dos 13 a stronger entity and that is where all member clubs profit from.”
Club dos 13 is responsible for negotiating the broadcast rights of the Brazilian championship. The current value of the contract is R912 million ($520m) for the three years ending in 2011.
