The Women's International Squash Players' Association (WISPA) has announced that president Natalie Grainger will assume the role of acting chief executive until a replacement can be found for Andrew Shelley, who announced he was stepping down in March after 15 years.

WISPA chairman Ingrid Lofdahl-Bentzer said: "Natalie has been WISPA's president for over six years, and will assume her extended role until a suitable permanent candidate is found, allowing us to begin the transition from former CEO Andrew Shelley immediately.

"Natalie's appointment has been unanimously agreed by all members of the WISPA board and it serves to ensure that the association receives the full attention it deserves throughout the transition period for the benefit of its members.

"We are very fortunate that Natalie has agreed to take up a role at the helm, for which she is eminently qualified. Work has already begun on the search for a permanent CEO and we have been very encouraged by the quality of some of the potential candidates."

Grainger added: "I am delighted to serve the association to the fullest, particularly during this transition period. WISPA has a tremendously successful history and it is vital that during this interim period we do not lose any momentum.

“I am of course extremely familiar with players, promoters and stakeholders in our sport and am committed to ensuring WISPA’s best interests are maintained.”
