Formula 1 officials are reportedly in talks about reintroducing turbocharged engines in a bid to attract new sponsors to the sport.
Website Pitpass.com claims that a return to 1.5-litre turbocharged engines from 2013 could tempt more brands into F1 – particularly those with environmental concerns as the engines use about half as much fuel as at present.
The site reports that such a move could also lead to new manufacturers, such as Audi, entering F1.
The turbocharged era between 1977 and 1988 was seen by many as one of the greatest in the sport.
