Sochi, the Russian city that will stage the Winter Olympics in 2014, is being lined up to host a Formula 1 grand prix.

Commercial rights boss Bernie Ecclestone revealed recently that countries such as Russia, the United States and India could take the places of some European cities, whose contracts will not be renewed, on the F1 calendar.

And he said on Thursday (April 15): "We've got two or three places in Russia which we're dealing with at the moment. There is a big push for us to do something with Sochi."

Meanwhile, Ecclestone dismissed reports that Korea would not be ready to host its first grand prix race later this year, saying he was “absolutely sure” the new track would be ready in time.
