Vancouver spent $727.6m on infrastructure and operations for this year’s Winter Olympics, a report due to go before the city council this week has revealed.
That figure was partially financed through contributions of $174.5m from the provincial and federal governments, leaving a balance of $553.1m, reports The Canadian Press.
The city reportedly spent $73.6m on competition venues, including $12.8million to convert the curling venue into a community centre which includes a pool.
An estimated $120.6m was spent on non-competition venues, such as an Olympic street car demonstration line, road repairs, and the renovation of theatres.
The city spent approximately $299.1m on civic infrastructure at the Olympic Village site, including a waterfront park, a community centre, a heritage facility, and 252 units of social housing, according to the report.
