International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive Haroon Lorgat has ruled out the possibility of international cricket returning to Pakistan in the near future.
Reuters reports that Lorgat said until teams were satisfied with the security situation in Pakistan, it would not be possible to resume international matches in the country.
"I can only advise Pakistan to follow the example of South Africa who focussed on their domestic cricket when they were isolated from international cricket and managed to return with a bang," he said.
No international team has visited Pakistan since the attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore last year, but Lorgat added that the ICC was doing a lot to support Pakistan cricket.
"That is the reason why Pakistan is playing is so much international cricket at neutral venues and abroad over the next few months, he continued. It is important they also continue to organise regular domestic events at home.
Pakistan has staged matches in the United Arab Emirates and will start a two-Test series against Australia in England on July 13.
