Chelsea has announced that it is increasing season ticket prices for the first time in almost five years to help the club meet Uefa’s financial fair play proposals.
The most expensive season ticket will now cost £1,210 for adults for the 2010/11 season, while the cheapest will be £550. It is the first increase since July 2005.
Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay said: “It is important that the club increases revenues where it believes there is justification in doing so. This will help the club in its stated aim to be self-sustainable from a financial point of view and meet Uefa criteria for European competition once the Uefa financial fair play proposals come into effect.
“I believe the season-ticket prices represent great value on a cost-per-match basis and the club as a whole offers excellent value for money on and off the pitch which is why Stamford Bridge has been sold out to our fans for every game played here.”
