The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is to investigate the safety of all Olympic sports following the death of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili at the Vancouver Winter Games.
IOC spokeswoman Emmanuel Moreau told German Press Agency DPA that the IOC and individual sports federations had begun a probe.
Moreau said: "The IOC, in co-operation with the international sports federations, has initiated a full technical review of the safety and health aspects of all sports on the programme of the Olympic Games [summer and winter].
"Together we will assess whether any specific measures need to be considered in the future. The safety of the athletes at the Olympic Games is paramount.”
