Keli McGregor, the president of Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies, has died aged 48.
McGregor was found unconscious in a Salt Lake City hotel room but emergency services were unable to revive him. It is thought he died from natural causes.
McGregor had been with the Rockies since 1993, when was appointed as a senior director of operations, and had been president of the team since October 2001
"Words cannot describe the level of shock and disbelief that we are feeling at the loss of Keli," said the team owner Charlie Monfort.
"Our thoughts, our prayers are with Lori [McGregor’s wife] and the entire family as we all try to cope and understand how such a tragic loss could occur with such a wonderful man."
