The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has scrapped plans to launch an Olympic television channel.
The USOC and Comcast had been in talks about launching a dedicated channel but the proposal upset the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which said it had not granted the proposed network the rights it needed.
There has been no movement on the project since last August and USOC spokesman Patrick Sandusky said: "It just didn't make sense from this point so we ended the contract.”
Scott Blackmun joined the USOC as chief executive at the start of this year and Richard Carrion, an IOC executive board member, added: "We think this is part of the new leadership making a genuine effort to have a very meaningful relationship with the IOC.”
