Ferrari sponsors Santander have insured double world champion Fernando Alonso’s thumbs for 10m Euros.
The deal, which sees each thumb insured for 5m Euros, is part of a publicity campaign for accident and life insurance ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix on May 9.
"Alonso's thumbs are a symbol – as well as being essential for driving a Formula 1 car, they also make a sign of victory and show that everything is under control and well protected," the bank said in a statement.
