The Rugby Football Union has appointed former Wasps A assistant coach and Scotland National Academy coach Alun Powell as its elite player development manager.
Reporting directly to Stuart Lancaster, the head of elite player development, Powell starts his new role on May 18.
Powell’s responsibilities will include working closely with Lancaster to support the management and development of the RFU regional academies.
He joins the RFU from the Rugby Football League where he has been working as national player development manager.
Lancaster said: "Alun has a key role to play, which includes further developing our relationship with schools rugby, and he has the additional responsibilities of helping develop and deliver the regional academy programmes.
"Alun has a great amount of experience to offer in talent ID and talent development after spending the earlier parts of his coaching career at London Wasps, the Scottish Rugby Union and more recently the Rugby Football League."
