International Baseball Federation president Riccardo Fraccari has vowed to fight to get baseball back into the Olympics by working to change the perception that it is solely an American sport.
The Associated Press reports that Fraccari said at the SportAccord International Convention in Dubai on Tuesday (April 27) that he also sees great potential to expand in parts of Europe as well as Africa and the Middle East, where Iraq and Iran have approached him about investing in the sport.
Along with reshaping baseball's image, Fraccari added that he will work with softball to team up on a joint bid in 2013 to get back into the Olympics. Baseball and softball were dropped from the Olympic programme after the 2008 Beijing Games.
